Hazardous Driving in Midwest City

Posted by on Feb 10, 2014 in Blog, Insurance, Oklahoma | 0 comments

Winter is beautiful in Midwest City when everything is covered with a white blanket of snow. It can turn into an adventure just trying to drive to work. Before heading out here are some tips to be prepared for hazardous driving conditions.

1. Check the weather before leaving, look for delays and accidents and the best route to take.
2. Warm up your car, if your car is in the garage leave the garage door open so you get proper ventilation to avoid CO poisoning. CO can build up inside the garage so it’s best to back the car out of the garage while it’s on for any length of time.
3. Scrape all the windows clear of ice and snow.
4. Make sure your defrosters are working.
5. Make sure your windshield wiper fluid tank is full.  Carry some extra fluid in your trunk.
6. Have a full tank of gas, just in case.
7. Have your cell phone fully charged.
8. Carry battery jumper cables.
9. Have a bag of sand or cat liter.
10. Carry a blanket and emergency supplies.
